Aussie in America

Hi every one. I'm a long time member over a metal meet and I thought I'd look in to AMS to see what skills and techniques are being shared on this forum.

I'm a full time Coachbuilder and I'm a partner in a video network called Motornation.tv

Right now I am working on getting a Shelby Cobra Buck started using a tool designed by Jeff Edwards of Artisan Coachworks to copy and fiberglass body made by Shelby when they where made in Mexico.

My favorite metering by far is 3003. I'm getting sick of rust repair and am doing my best to not work with steel any more.

I do most of my shrinking with a large stump and mallet. I do most of my stretching and planish get with an e wheel.

I have used power hammers but I seem to move just as fast using the medieval tools just mentioned.

My goal over the next couple of months is to get a buck made and turn out a body before I move back home to Australia with my family.

If you live in the Nor Cal area we may have crossed paths. I have attended a number of the metal meet days in Santa Cruz.

Thanks

Dan

Welcome to the forum, Dan.

Very cool to hear about your tendency to prefer a simple stump, mallet and wheel over more more complicated equipment. Much of my interest in this work is how much can be done with very simply tools.
