Intro from Texas

Hello everybody! My name is Matt and I have actually lurked on this site for years. I currently eat, sleep, breathe building things with my hands. Unfortunately my day job is with computers... I like to build custom wood/metal furniture in my spare time. I recently completed building an 81kz650 motorcycle making all the fender and cowl from scratch using sheet metal. I have 'built' several classic cars in the past 20+ years as well. I know how to weld but for some reason I never learned to form metal. Instead I would just buy replacement panels and weld those in. This is why I come here to learn. I hope to shape more fenders, tanks and and any panels I may need in the future. First order of business is to build my ewheel and planishing hammer setup.

Thanks for letting me join your family.

Welcome to the forum, Matt.

Your day job doesn't have to be computers... You could be self-unemployed like some of us. The sign at the shop that says "A good wife and a steady job have ruined many a biker."

Thanks everyone. If all goes according to plan, my job will be moved overseas where it's cheap and I will be unemployed with a decent severance package. Lucky for me, my soon to be wife makes good money and wants me to take some time off before finding a new job in order to try and build a legit business of making my furniture. In the back of my mind all I heard was spend those months having a good time in the garage. :p. I sure got lucky with my lady.
