Greetings from Panama City

Hello everyone, my name is Fox Hodges. I spoke with KP a couple of days ago about a project I have going in the shop....long story cut short, he suggested I attend the MetalShaping event running from Sept. 17 through Sept. 23. It is birthday weekend, and my son would very dissipointed if I wasted his plans on Saturday, so I will travel on Sunday. My plans are to attend Monday through Thursday and coat tail, help (get in the way), get coached, and learn as much as I can, from all who will have me. I am not a total novice to metal work, I have a small business that centers around artistic metal work and contract welding. If you visit my web site, pcmetalwork.com, you will understand that last the last sentense. Looking forward to meeting everyone.

Shop projects

David, I have two projects I'm working on. The first is an entertainment center designed after the arts and crafts style--only in steel. I am planning to have three beads on each style, a 1 1/2 X 3 X 14ga rect. tube. The plan so far is bead a piece of 18-20ga cold roll sheet, then capture it in a 1 X 1 X 1/8 angle frame, then apply the frame/beaded piece to the styles. Just as KP predicted the sheet stock rolls in two dimensions....looking for effective means to prestrech/postform with my tools on hand. The other project is a demilune table with forge steel legs(1 1/2 in tapering to 1/2 in square). The hard part is draping a piece of 24 oz copper over an MDF top and make look like a smooth table cloth. By the way I never take on really hard projects.;) Is everything clear as mud?
