I collect racing motorcycles from the 1950s and 1960s and am keenly interested to both find someone who can craft aluminum tanks, seats, and fairings for my projects and to also learn how to do it myself. This forum looks to be a great way to accomplish both goals. I currently have an aluminum tank from a 1964 Motobi race bike that was inaccurately made by someone and I need it corrected. I also have an original aluminum fairing from the same machine that I would like accurately replicated at an affordable cost

Post some photos and you'll get more interest. We have lots of folks in the Midwest that have the skills you're looking for.

Hi Jon welcome to the forum

Hi Jon,
we Motobi owners (and former owners) keep bumping into each other on the Internet. :) You can learn to do your own metal work, just don't expect it to do Evan Wilcox-level work straight away. Race stuff is easier to do than exact replicas to concours level. You should look at this thread on building a dustbin fairing for a Mondial racer: http://allmetalshaping.com/showthread.php?t=16651 cheers, Michael |
