Hi guys,

My name is Jochen, I am a panel shaping hobbyist from Germany (near Frankfurt/Main).

I started panel shaping as a young lad, when I had my first Messerschmitt Kabinenroller back in the mid nineties, which was in a terrible condition these days.

Since then I tried to improve my skills constantly and, however I built up my small "panel shop' in my garage over the years, where I do some restoration and reproduction work, mainly on Messerschmitt vehicles for me and my friends.

My garage is located in the middle of a living area, which could cause trouble when excessivly using noisy tools such as angle grinders and hammers.

Therefore I have found out about methods for mostly quiet panel work over the years. I am using a home made wheeling machine with heaps of different anvils, an old small german beadroller with many homemade beads, a shrinker/stretcher 70mm and a bunch of smaller home made special tools which became necessary over time.

Since I am mostly doing aluminum and mild steel panel work, I have always used TIG welding. However I am not really satisfied with both, hardness and thickness of the welds. Currently I am trying to improve my welding skills, and I am working on oxy/acetylene welding and cutting, which I would like to establish in my 'shop'. I reckon this may be a big task for years to come...

I am looking forward to be a member of the metal shaping community and I am very happy to share my knowledge with you guys.

Please check my first album for further references. Thanks!

Keep rocking and rolling!

Cheers, Jochen

Nice to see another fellow german here, welcome!

In your album you have shown some quite impressive machinery and metal shaping.

Is the wire mesh in one of the photos the stuff from Dinosaurier?
