Hi From ND
Hello everybody!
My name is Casey, I'm living in the cold north...Fargo, ND. I followed a link here from the HAMB (Jalopy Journal) and this is exactly the site I have been looking for! I am working on my first car project, a 1930 Ford Model A Fordor (Murray body), and I have been wanting to fabricate some of the sheet metal pieces that I can't find replacements for but have no idea how to make them...I am a complete metal working noob, so I will probably be stalking around the site taking in all the information before you see me making too may posts. |
Hi Casey,
Sure your get a warm welcome here, start a thread on your project with pics of the problem areas, the troops will be lined up to give you some tips.It worked for me. enjoy. |
Hi
Welcome, there is a lot of info under automotive but you can get tips from anywhere on this site. Pic's really help. Don't buy a lot of equipment untill you see just how much you can do with simple tools. Then the sky is the limit on what you will actually use, and spend!:)

Welcome aboard

Casey, welcome, hope you can find what you are looking for. If you can post a picture of your model A and the problem areas someone can probably help you. You can do a lot with just hand tools, machines let you make scrap faster until you learn what the metal wants to do. Thanks for joining us.

Hi Casey welcome to the site I agree with what joe said above, it is best to learn how to make repair sections by hand, machines just complicate things untill you have a 'feel' for the way the metal 'moves'.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys! I will definitely post pics and questions when I get there.

Welcome Casey!! Looking forward to see your project. I have a few model a's myself. You'll fit right in here.

Casey,
Your timing might be phenomenal. One of the topics of discussion at Dan Pate's metalmeet was about possibly having a meet at Leo Straley's place in Carrington ND. That is just a hop skip and a jump in NoDak miles. Leo was the guy that brought the big Eckold. Here is the thread that talks about Dan's meet. G. |
