Been at this my entire life. Love to fabricate just about anything. Build stainless sheet metal expansion chambers for a living. Good fun. Thanks. Looking forward to seeing and learning some new tricks and tips.

Welcome to the forum, Jason.
I'm also interested in your expansion chamber fab method- hydro formed, slip rolled sections, ? |

Thanks fellas!
I slip roll cones. Lots of them then rig the stainless up. Fusion welded no fill rod. Get the cones laser cut. Makes hammer forming them over a dolly tree of my own custom shaped dolls/anvils and the fusion weld much easier laser cut. If I am custom building a pipe I use a woodward fab rotary shear. Then about 80% is fusion and a little fill rod here and there. Attachment 52719 Attachment 52720 Attachment 52721 |
Nice consistent parts, Jason. Welcome.
Back-up flux and fusion are the best for stainless parts, if the fits are nice. Paradise sure got flamed. A buddy of mine lost his resto shop and home there. Lots of nice cars went away - no insurance. I know of one guy who moved out a few years ago, saying "fire trap" ... one road in and one road out. |
So many nice cars and good folks stuff lost. It's horrible. My son and I stayed and saved our home. Don't know how but did it. Lost everything in the yard except cars and the home. We are moving now. No more rules apply in Paradise I guess and our small road is now a truck freeway starting at 4am 7 days a week. Cannot take worrying about the fires anymore. The year before we had a huge fire litterly across the street. Shut down the town and power here for over a month. Here is a video of the one at the end of my driveway. This is not the campfire but 1 year before. https://youtu.be/23ehbb4WeBk
The campfire burnt right back through this section hotter as all the trees where already dead and dry. Had enough. Moving to a new town new house. Fresh start. I am very sorry for those that lost everything. And for those that passed. Just not right. |
