New member helping family friend liquidate late husband's equipment

Im not a metal guy but I have a family friend that lost her husband and is wanting to sell some of his equipment. I have pictures of most of it and am looking for resources on pricing the stuff. All the equipment will need to be picked in central Arkansas.
my name is Mark by the way.

Post your photos Mark. They will need to be 1200x800 ish so you will probably want to resize them. If you get a security token missing message it means they are too large. Be sure and list contact info. We prefer not to have the back and forth selling conversations on the forum buy rather by phone, email, or PM.

Mark, the machine is a cast iron bandsaw frame that has been converted into a wheeling machine. The first ewheel I made was similar. Mine was an 'Oliver' and was relatively soft (weak) as ewheel frames go.

The upper wheel appears to be a cast steel caster wheel...hopefully trued. The anvils are ??? If shop made, are not that valuable unless they are good steel and true.

Kerry, can you give me an ballpark price for something like that?

Kerry Pinkerton 04-28-2020 05:18 PM

To be honest, not what the widow thinks I expect. To be brutally honest, the conversion is not that attractive although it may work fine. I would not expect you'd get more than $750. Given your location is not a hotbed of metalshapers, perhaps less. Put it on Craigslist. Few people are going to want it enough to pay shipping.

Sorry to be so blunt but there it is. My opinion only.

The louver press in the background may be worth a bit.

Ditto what Kerry said

Hi Mark,

I too am helping a widow with a husbands shop.

Kerry has built many e wheels, including mine, and knows a lot about them. I totally agree with his assessment. Here’s a picture of the bandsaw - but may be different model http://vintagemachinery.org/photoind....aspx?id=10671

There are some other tools in the background of the photos that are desirable, but I don’t see anything that would justify shipping long distance. Both Facebook Marketplace and Craigslist for regional ads are your friends in this endeavor.

Good luck.

Kerry and John, thank you so much. She is a little overwhelmed and im just trying to gather info so she make informed sells. I'll pass along the great insight you all shared. Definitely need local buyers for most of his stuff.
Thanks again.
Mark
