Restarting my metal shaping journey
Hello all, just signed up as I am hoping to get back into learning metal shaping. Back in the early 2000s when I was still in high school I started trying to learn metal work while doing massive rust repair on a 59 ford pickup. Long story short I went off to college got married had kids, etc, etc and haven't really messed with much shaping since then other than dabbling here and there through the years. I was a member of metalmeet.com back then and learned a lot from that site. I logged back in over there but doesn't seem to be much activity, I seem to recognize a lot of names from back in the day on this site now. Hoping to really start dedicating some time to learning the basic shaping skills. I did finally buy a beater bag and a couple mallets, going to build a laminated "stump" or "shrink facilitator". I dont have room or money for big equipment so going to mostly focus on hand tool methods revolving around parts for old cars and motorcycles. Planning on spending some serious effort upping my gas welding skills too. My current projects include a 49 plymouth and serious modification of a Honda 1100 motorcycle, the 59 ford is still kicking around too. I also have friends that have several other cars and motorcycles to build so lots of projects to learn on. I live in Wyoming and work maintenance at the water treatment plant doing both mechanical and electrical work, lots of industrial controls. Anyway thanks for having me and ill try to learn as much as I can.
