english wheel - adjuster of the top wheel
Hello,
thanks to all the advices so far. It sounds ridiculous but if it comes to the adjuster of the top wheel it reminds me all the time on the heavy trailer support wheel of my dad’s old leaky slurry spreader. I am just wondering if there is a possibility to use the part with some modification (prevent rotation) for an english wheel. Does anyone have the same thought and got some experience? Many thanks Regards Robert |
You mill a groove somewhere. You can use a screw from a valve, a slide from a lathe, a trailer wheel... or like a true machinist, you can make it right from the start according to your needs. Lathe, milling machine, a little work.:)

Robert, there are lots of ways to do it. HOWEVER, the one thing an adjuster needs to have is NO SLOP. If the rollers move around while you're rolling, your panels will be junk.
The biggest problem with cheap offshore machines, along with floppy frames and out of round rollers, is slop in the adjuster and yokes. |
top and button anvils
Hello,
thanks a lot for your answers concerning to the adjuster. I guess i will build it form scratch. As I mentioned in my introduction I am living in Germany. Can anyone recommend European top and button anvils manufacturers for English wheels? Or are there producers from the US which are shipping there rollers to Germany? Thanks a lot Best Regards Robert |
I know there are some folks in Europe who make them but dont have any contact info.
Joe Andrew's at Hoosier Profiles ships worldwide. Hoosierprofiles.com. I bought over 400 sets of rollers over the years from Joe. Perfection! Not cheap. Im not a fan of manufacturers who dont radius the edges. Its very easy to let a panel droop and end up with a crease in the panel. |
