"young" guy from chicagoland

not real young but young enough. im a 26 year old from chicagoland that enjoys shaping, melting and chipping away at metal. currently work for a hotrod shop for over 3 years and before that a chassis shop and before that a bodyshop. just a big time hot rod enthusiast looking to excel and expand my knowledge and skills in our "world"

Welcome Derek, have you got a personal project or are you like most people who work on cars for a living and too busy with other peoples cars to build your own.

thats so true dave. i do have my personal projects, 4!!! of them to be exact. A 49 f1, a 62 falcon/60s staright axle drag car, 63 falcon sprint (nice driver) and a cobra replica. all are in project form and run except the truck. i really have more then i can keep up with but im a sucker when deals come up. so im trying to get a game plan so i can start buying my own equipment instead of borrowing works and im starting that by finishing one and selling it to fund the others. what i want to do most now is build the cobra body from aluminum. even with the fiberglass body being a good buck i want to make one out of wood and really cover all the steps. i bought the cobra right out of trade school and to say the least its thrown together. it is a blast especially since i dont have to worry about the finish but after learning how a car is "built" and having the ability to fit and finish and just know how it should be done it becomes frustrating that i didnt take the time to complete it. but there is an upside i know everything i dont like about it so i get to correct all of them. now when ill start that i dunno. in the mean time just tweaking my skills and trying to finish the straight axle falcon
