Hi from WY
 

Hello all,
I thought I better post so I fullfill the site's requirements at the least. I spend more time reading (and learning) than I should according to my better half. Anyways I have been restoring cars for about 25 years and have been pursuing metal shaping for about the last 10. I have been lucky to have some great mentors in my journey. I work in a vocational school and shaping is just one of the disiplines we instruct. I have learned lots and have great facilites to boot. Also building my own shop collection: Pullmax, lathes, mills, saws, planishing hammer and finishing a power hammer Yoder style. I have car projects lined up for the foreseeable future as all of us likely do. Trying to find a few good students that will keep the dream alive...

Welcome to Allmetalshaping Gary....I'm guessing you teach at Wyo. Tech. I was a student there back in 81 back before the street rod program.

What do you teach at WyoTech? I know several graduates from the Street Rod program and am impressed by their skills. (Jay Pagnelli, Blake Tomlinson, and Grant Leeser to name three)

Is your power hammer a kit or a scratch build? There is a lot of interest in power hammers currently.

I had the pleasure of walking through Hershey for three days with Gary back in October. He is a great guy and has built several beautiful power hammers.

Yes I oversee the Street Rod & Custom Fab. program for the school. It is a great gig even on a bad day! Great folks, facilites and tooling. Yes, the students keep the shop nice and clean (grads know what I mean)!

Nate, thanks for wearing out your shows with me at Hershey. Who would have thought 33 Pontiac parts would be so rare? 3 days and only one headlamp bucket? Oh well, it was a good time.

Kerry, we have had lots of great students over the years. It's always awesome to see them out there doing what they came out here to learn!
The school has 4 hammers, 3 Metalcraft and 1 Yoder K-90 style which we built from Cook's parts and fabbed the pedestal in house.

I have built two more complete sets of arms starting with Jimmy Hervatin's rough castings, combined with Cook cast arms and lots of rough stock and time! One set went to a good friend and I am fabbing up a steel pedestal for mine in between other commitments.
