I want to learn sheet metal fabrication
Hi all, I just stumbled across this forum looking for info to get into gas welding.
I have always been an auto tinkerer. I started restoring a 1970 Olds 442, 5 years ago. Job change, long distance move, etc, it has been sitting for 4 years. I would like to learn how to fabricate and oxy weld some patch panels for my car. I only have basic hand tools, and an oxy/acetylene setup, and very little welding experience. Thanks for the help! |
Scott, welcome and thanks for the introduction. There is a lot of information here to help you get started learning metal shaping. Thanks for joining us.

Welcome to the forum
Scott,
I, too, am also an auto tinkerer who is interested in metal shaping. Check out the Bodywork Restoration Tutorial DVD offered by David Gardiner. He uses oxyacetylene welding and shows how to do a great deal of metal shaping with readily available hand tools. David is on this forum and has some of his techniques on the internet. Welcome to this forum and buckle up because it will lead you quickly to a higher level of metal shaping. Bob |
Hello Scott, welcome to the site! Bob, thanks for the mention.
