Another new guy.

Hi! I just joined and am not sure where to go with this introduction but here goes. I'm 68 and decided about 10 years ago if I didn't start messing around with old cars and trucks them, I'd never do it. So I bought a 1939 IH D2 pickup and decided to restore it, Having no previous metal working skills, I joined the local street rod club to develop some contacts. Luckily, I found another old timer who has taught me the basics of repairing car sheet metal and metal finishing rather than gobbing on "bondo". Now I find the need to make some more intricate parts that will require more than a hammer and dolly. So, I've made the trek to Harbor Freight and stocked up with their shrinker/stretcher (which works pretty good, I think), their planishing hammer (seems to be o.k., but I've only used it to remove some dents in a fender) and their English wheel, which from what I've read, needs some work to make it usable.

Feel free to offer advice!

Hi Jimmy welcome to the site. there are plenty of threads on building wheeling machines and other machines on here but you also need hand skills and to learn how to use hand tools to achieve a metal finish.
