Aircraft mechanic from So Cal

Hi my name is Jay Shafer and I am from Riverside California. I'm a gooberment certified Airframe and powerplant mechanic and am looking to expand on the metal shaping aspect of what I was taught in A&P school.

Welcome to the forum Jay. The vast majority of the members are automotive types, it's nice to see another person here with aviation interests. What types of parts are you looking to create (just curious)?

Welcome Jay, I got my air frame power plant cert while I was in the Air Force in Iceland. Of course it was all fabric and glue back then.;) Welcome from another newby.

Ah iceland!

Hi jay, Stuck in Iceland, were you? I spent time in Akureyri helping train the local fishing fleet. Great country, eh? Course it would be hard to tell if you didn't move around much, stuck in the moonscape of Kevlavik. But lots of fun to be had in the Capitol city....

I dabble with automotive projects also, at the moment I'm creating a set of aluminum inner fenders for my project Jeep. In the future I might try my hand at making some wheel pants or wing tips, but I need some more practice first.

I have a pair of fiberglass Pitts wheel pants that I'm going to try to reproduce in aluminum at some point. I have Kent White's DVD on making wheelpants which shows some interesting techniques.
