Joining from Frosty Calgary Alberta .... Canada
My name is Leon and I've built houses, cars and fixed just about anything I could break. I've done bodywork and replaced rotted panels doing some metal shaping, mostly trial and error. I never mind buying tools but space is more an issue. I'm looking to learn and understand the best bang for the buck methods and favour the old craftsman approach. I am currently finishing a V8 MGB and am looking to start a bike or a Rat Rod.
I'll lurk and learn for a while but would be great to meet someone near me or a club that does this sort of stuff. Great site, glad I found it. Cheers, Leon |
Leon, welcome to AllMetalShaping.com. We probably all started the way you did, trial and error. By participating on the site you will learn by asking questions. I would recommend that you buy David Gardners DVD it shows the old school metal shaping techniques. http://www.allmetalshaping.com/showthread.php?t=172
Thanks for joining. |
I'm Close
Hi Leon, welcome. I live in Bowness, so yep, I'm pretty close. Great to have someone else on here from home.
I'm pretty cold too, but I'm heading to Arizona for the next week so I'm hoping to get a bit warmer. |
Hello Leon,
Welcome to allmetalshaping, you sound like someone who is very practical so I am sure you will learn very quickly. Thank you very much Joe for your kind comment about my dvd. David |
Bowness??
HI Sean
I work for a major Construction company in Calgary as a Project Manager, I'll be renovating your Fire Hall in Bowness in about a week or so! Hope you like it when we're done. Leon |
Welcome aboard Leon

Leon,
Be good to my Firefighters, happy firemen are good firemen. (firepeople??) Anyways, I'll PM you my phone # and perhaps we can meet up and talk metal, I'd like to see your projects. I've been a part of the 'Traditional' Hot Rod scene here in Calgary for a long time. I've got a chopped '54 Nash and a '55 Chevy mild custom. A bunch of my friends have built some pretty nice Traditional styled hot rods (don't like the word Rat Rod, we build nice cars that maybe have flat paint sometimes) So if you need guidance down that road I can maybe help. |
