New and learning

Just an introduction..............Not necessarily new to metal working, however, still learning the skills of messing with sheet metal. I've fabricated and welded for years, but primarily worked with building chassis and racing vehicles. I do have a fully equiped shop and my most recent project, a 77 Toyota FJ40, has presented me with new challenges. While I have plenty of experience with automotive body work, I've never really had to make panels, until now. This project is a total rust bucket, and since it is a keeper and been taking up space in the shop over 6 years, I'm using it to develop my sheet metal skills.

Right now I'm experimenting with making mostly flat repair panels or patches and getting tight butt joints to tig in. Going very well, however, I see getting the hang of planishing will take a little time. I have purchased a Harbor Freight English Wheel to play around with and hope to get into a few projects in the near future to learn a little more.

Thanks
Kirk
