New Guy from NJ

Hello Everyone,
I have a small shop in New Jersey, which is not operational at this time due to last years Hurricane that left me 10' of water, and causing a lot of damage to all the shop tools,
I am in the process of rebuilding, all the Lathe, milling machine, Tool box cleaning and re-polishing all the dollies and hammers etc. my knowledge of metal shaping started back in the 70's was in the auto body business, wanted to learn coach building, in the early 90's was fortunate enough to go to a class that Scott Knight held in Calif, went to Ron Forinier's class, Cal Davis in Mooresville N.C. and met with John Glover several times, spent time with Fay Butler, While I have a Yoder, Edwards wheel, many hand tools, I need to learn allot, I work daily for GEICO which is a demanding job so my hobby time is limited, I have been in the process of building a Cobra 427 SC for years, and have obtained the parts to build a Daytona Coupe, I was lucky enough to have met Chuck Linquist drove to his home in Calif, this was before he offered the plans to build the coupe, His car is well done and he did complete this in a small home garage, with limited tools,
My hopeful game plan is to get back on my feet and get shaping, I have seen all the projects going on in the group, and my mouth waters, So I have to get up and running again.

Hi John, Welcome back. Sorry about the flood. I had no idea you were hit by the hurricane.

You mentioned in an email that the anvils for your Edwards Ewheel were badly corroded because of the water and would have to be replaced. I suggest you contact Joe Andrews. He makes Edwards anvils and I'm betting he can clean yours up and replace the bearings cheaper than you can buy new ones.

Thank You for all the kind words

Hey Guys & Gals , thanks If this loss has taught me one thing, I will make sure I put Insurance on the contents, after I am completed rebuilding the equipment, I know I have to move on and start working again or I will be rusty as well. I have learned allot about rebuilding and finding the bearings and seals, mostly the 3 phase Motor rebuilds, I did make a purchase and I am so glad I did I wish I had the money to buy a very large Ultra Sonic Cleaner, it cleans the rust and all the mud and muck and does a great job on the small parts and cleans in places just a cleaner and bush couldn't get. Thank you for the lead on the Edwards anvils as they all have to be remade and I will have to take that machine apart and replace the bearing as well. Thanks for the kind words and advise
John E
