Amateur London Basher - Intro

Hi and regards to All here,

Having had a long standing interest in all things metalwork, I thought it was about time to 'up my game' before it gets too late. Over the years I've restored a few cars and always undertaken repairs/ modifications myself. Luckily I was able to undertake a couple of courses over the last few years covering hand forming, MIG/ TIG, English Wheel and patterns/ jigs at Contour Autocraft here in the UK (highly recommended). My intention is to build a new workshop over the coming months as my old garage is full up and falling down, everyone needs a proper space to work.

As an amateur, I've enjoyed the threads here and I'm looking forward to learning more and sharing any little knowledge I might have here on the forum.

Best regards to All,

Rick / Peter, Many thanks for the kind welcomes - much appreciated.

This site has so much useful information to offer and amongst others I like your thread on turning up domes and lower anvils Rick - very informative.

As for your site Peter, an impressive range of experience, work and tools. I wish I was in your neighbourhood - I like tools :).....

As a drinking buddy of mine and I say -

"He who dies with the most tools wins" :)

Regards

I think I've found the right place at last.. a tool enthusiast's nirvana :)

As for where I am Mark, situated in the less prosperous south east near Erith and Bexleyheath. If you're from these here parts you'll know it's where Bazalgette decided to put the sewage pumping station for the whole of south London - says it all really.....

Thanks for the welcome guys!

Hi Phil. I am from Hackney in east London. Did not have a passport to go south of the river.
If you ever get a chance, go visit David Gardiner. In Harwich. He is a real metal shaping wizard, and very nice bloke to boot.
