Time for a change
 

Hello to all on this site. I've been interested in hot rods and custom cars my whole life. After a recent divorce and losing my job a couple months later, I feel the need to just go for it. I want to learn how to truly work with sheet metal. I've taken auto body courses at the local community college, but I want more. I want to learn how to use something other than a MIG welder, cut off wheels and body filler to create something nice. I want to be able to use an english wheel and other various tools to create a usable part from a flat piece of sheet metal.

All you need is here in the forum, you 've just got to look for it..:D. then with some tools, you need to practice and ask questions and practice some more :D:D;)

Hello Ash, welcome to allmetalshaping. I tend to do most of my welding with oxy acetylene, I find it the best method because it dresses out so well. It causes little distortion if it is done right.

Being able to weld well can save you lots of work. I show a little of the process I use on my youtube footage.

Hi Ash,
I live about five minutes away from you so stop in one day. I'm bringing the Bugatti Baby to the Corsa Rossa car club meeting next Tuesday night at the Harley dealer off Linville Rd. in Kernersville. Dick Bear (of McBearan fame) has his shop just between Winston and Clemmons. I was just over there a few minutes ago. Lots of good help locally if you want it. My number one recommendation though is to buy David Gardiner's Metalshaping Zone video. Great way to get started fast!

I'm starting to search the sight for the basic tools I'll need. Currently I have a CHEAP Harbor Freight set of body hammers and I know I'll need to get some better ones soon.
