Being a pilot and a builder of winning show cars means you are detail oriented individual. That will be very helpful to complete your project.
You have proven that you can swim, so may as well jump in the deep end of the pool. The buck is your road map, or flight plan, so make sure it has all the needed information.
Some often overlooked items are jambs for doors, hood and trunk. Space for weatherstripping, hinge location and design, as well as structure to support all of the body panels.
The skins are the easy part, all of the other things will be far more challenging and time consuming.
Post your thoughts, plans and pictures. The members that have built cars from scratch will be able to chime in and offer help where needed.
Sounds like a great project.
