Jay, The problem with stainless is that it work hardens quickly when you shrink or stretch. Different alloys act differently but 304 is the worse. There is a saying 303 she's for me, 304 she's a whore.

5000 series aluminum can be worked but it is a little harder to work and will also work harden. 3003 is a very good alloy of aluminum for metal shaping. When you work aluminum it will move fast so go slower than you would with steel.
