Spent a lot of time mocking up the gas pedal and cable. I felt like I needed to follow the instructions that came with the cable. Power of suggestion I guess. There is a cylinder head straight in front of the top of the gas pedal stopping it from going straight thru the firewall. I was trying to route the cable under the dash from the pedal arm using pulleys and then into the sheath which would screw to the firewall. I remembered my nifty Ford grommets I had ordered and thought I could run the cable, sheath and all thru the firewall. Seems to work fine and I won't need to leave an extra couple inches that the instructions call for.
