Definitely more imposing with a couple extra gangsters inside, and safer getaways by not having to hop onto a running board.
Elbow room is just cause to widen. Being a brand loyalist myself, I can hardly deny that "wider is better".
The widening of the other one seems very subtle by comparison due to the overly upright and skinny original 1930s look of this one. Stands out more on this one but done in your build style and for your purpose, I don't think the altered width will be evident to most without another specimen sitting next to it.
