Yes.
I bought one of these double-stakes back in the '80's. yes, the wood "chisel" mallet works best - on soft thin metals.
Keep the stake heads polished.
He's got the "back-and-forth" moves down with his disc.

(A manual ram-press with a round-bar tool shoves in the ruffles with less stretching, btw.)
