Phil,

You are correct in the Blair style spot weld cutter bits. I use the reversible (double ended) ones. Also have what I refer to as a Spitznagel style, air drill with a flat ended carbide drill bit. This you have to have access to the backside. However, 95% of the time I’ll just use the Blair bits. The main thing is to center it in the spot weld and go through slow (you typically should see a “puff” of rust / dust pop up the instant you go through the first layer.
