Hello Guenter, welcome to the forum. I think you may be familiar with a customer of mine. (I won't say his name on here) I built a petrol tank for his SS100 as well as wings and body. I have worked on many SS100s in the last twenty five years or so. I can tell you that the petrol tank is not something to be tackled by the inexperienced. It is a hell of a thing to make.

I made one off tooling to form the correct shape of bead in the outer case, many do not have the correct bead. I made the radius at the top rear of the tank the correct shape throughout its length, many are totally out of shape in this area, this looks awful on many 'restored' cars I have seen. I put all the rivets in exactly the same possitions as they were in the original tank.



Above- this is the tank prior to having the outer side panels fitted.





You can see how well the tank fits the body. Being riveted and soldered construction every part has to be done in the right order so that you don't 'snooker' yourself. There are many brackets, flanges pipes and baffles to be put in place inside the tank.
