Default Neophyte from SO CAL

Greetings,
Shane from Corona, Ca here. Just to start off, I am registered to a lot of forums and this one has the most extensive registration process.
I'm just saying!!!

I was a certified Goodwrench mechanic with Ca. smog license at 21 y/o. Spent 4 years in US Navy as an Airframer. Developed into a decent technician and aviation metal man. After Navy went back to school and got my RN license. (long story).

So here I am. Just bought a 1970 Volkswagen Campmobile that needs some metal work. Going to tackle the work myself. Ive got a welder and an air compressor. My interest lies in the traditional body men and coach builders that shaped those early vehicles by hand. (Think early Porsche's, early Ferrari's, Pininfarina).

this is going to be my hobby. As I age I refuse to go quietly. While my friends will fade away playing golf and crossword puzzles, I'm going to die with a hammer and dolly in my hands.

May your door lines always be straight,

Shane

Shane;
Love that intro. It should be the mantra of all of us as we look toward those “sunset” years.

Default Thanx

Thanx to you guys.
I'm still in the research phase. Questions and results will be coming at some point. Just taking it slow. I was given some fenders to practice on. I feel guilty messing them up. They're OG VW.
