Dake Fixed Stroke Reciprocating Machine
Hi all,
Mark Lynn here from Dake Machine Tools in Grand Haven Mi. I reside in Muskegon Mi which is about 35 miles west of Grand Rapids. I am an avid EAA'er (Experimental Aircraft Association) and assist with metal shaping introductions to local chapters. I do so with the Dake Hammer as well as traditional hand tool methods as well. I would be more than happy to answer any and all questions about our Machine as well as provide any pointers while given the opportunity. I am in the process of plans building a Pitts Model 12 and have built Motorcycle Chassis as well.

I just wish he hadn't called it a hammer. I'm a bit anal about using the proper names for tools.

Mark,
Got a question about the Dake recip machine: How tight can the tooling be held in the machine? As tightly as the collets will hold in a Spanish Gairu?

Dake Recip Machine
Hi Kent,
Thank you for your inquiry. The upper and lower tool post hold 3/4" tooling by way of a "collet" type system. I say "collet" type system because we also use three knurled cup set screws to that tighten against the tooling. I will be honest, I am not familiar with the Spanish Gairu. My personal Recip Machine was the first prototype Dake built, with Anoka Input of course and I have never had any problems with tooling loosening. Mark
