Default What can I do with an old half dollar?

I'm a boy scout leader in NY and I have a few Franklin Half Dollars that are about as old as I am. I can't really tell, because it's so worn. So I have this wonderful opportunity to start a metal working project with my son (14) and turn these little pieces of coin silver into something interesting.

I recall how to make a mess from my old high school shop days, I mean, I learned how to make things way back when and have come here to refresh my memory and learn how to screw up a bit less.

I am a computer programmer by day, so things like this help keep me sane and it beats working on the plumbing merit badge.
