I'm new to metal shaping. I've been fascinated by the craft for years and am tired of sitting on the sidelines.
I'm a retired controls engineer so I enjoy electronics, microcontrollers and basic analog and digital sensors/controls/design. I'm also a pilot and have built my own, all metal ultralight aircraft and fly it regularly here in north east Nebraska. The aircraft is a Hummel Ultracruiser. see link for more info... https://www.hummelaircraft.com/ultracruiser I've done some minor metal repair in aluminum for our EAA Chapter, which I'm president of, for the parade plane we're building to foster new relationships in general aviation and promote the airport by participating in community parades around our area. Use the link below to see our EAA website. https://chapters.eaa.org/eaa291 I want to build a 39% near scale model (all aluminum) of a 32 roadster as a pedal car for our grand daughter who just turned 2 Labor Day weekend. My goal is to have it ready for her 3rd birthday. It's not actually a pedal car as plans for it call for the use of a DeWalt battery powered drill. My experience is in aluminum sheet only and will probably be the media I choose to work in. I am NOT a welder and don't own a welder. The pedal car will be put together with aircraft grade driven-rivets or pulled rivets where necessary. I have a bead roller, kick shrinker/stretcher, small english wheel, a shrinking stump and a very basic set of body hammers and dollies. I'm looking forward to getting to know the folks on the forum and join in the metal shaping experience! |
