Hello All! Name is Roy but go by Judge to most. Joined to gain some knowledge about hand forming some metal for projects I have or find someone that could do a project for me.
As a toolmaker, I have a vast knowledge myself but never did any extensive forming without the dies, lol Manual hand forming is an artform in it's self. I know it takes years of practice and a strong arm to master some skills.
I am building another Custom motorcycle and need a rear fender that fits and looks good also. This is a Bagger with a 250 series rear tire, complete with bumper and hitch. I purchased a fender and sent it to a guy that was going to put some crown in it, as it was an 11"wide but Flat. That was Jan. 10th. Had another look at it the other day and it was not a Pretty site. The guy tells me he has 22yrs working metal but with months having past it still is not done and varies from 11.75 to 9" wide in one area now. I'm not sure if I'll ever see it again, he's tring to tell me there is nothing he can do because it is a stamped piece! I exclaimed to him stamped or not "it is sheetmetal" and can be worked!
I will be looking over the site and hope to find the words that will help me through this. See ya later, Judgeroy

Welcome Roy. What you are seeing is shape vs arrangement with the changing width. You are correct... it's metal, it can be shaped. If you're guy can't do it, get it back from him and send it to someone else.. Do you know the metal gauge? If it's one of those 11ga fenders it takes some serious tools to move it. Cheap tools won't work it very well.
