Default G'Day from Perth Australia

Hey Guys,

Marcus here from Perth, located in the west of Australia (otherwise known as Western Australia... funny that, huh).
I'm an amateur metal shaper and just getting started. I'm 41 years of age and have been fabricating things out of metal since I was a boy. My day is a Mechanical Engineer, by profession, and was always showing me how things worked, how to fix things, modify them etc. I was always one of those kids that could just fix stuff or get things to work etc and things just haven't changed since I've got older... other that the complexity of the problems to fix, the detail in the design and the extent of engineering in the final product.

I own a 4wd accessories business that largely modifies new vehicles to higher safety standards in order to have them survive the rigours of mining life. We fabricate many items, such as long range fuel tanks, dual wheel carriers and a huge array of custom components like bash plates etc. I have a total of 42 guys working with my business partner and I and the business has been running quite successfully for the past 17 years.

On a personal note, I'm a car fanatic. I have 4 Holden LX Hatchback Torana's (Australian Muscle Cars), a 1969 Pro Touring Camaro, a highly modified 1985 Toyota Hilux and a couple of other cars for daily use. I live on 5 acres and have a monster size workshop in my back yard full of tools, cars and shop equipment to make things. I also have a keen interest in Rhino CAD and like to engineer things in virtual world before machining things for real.

Looking forward to having full access to this forum so I can be further inspired by others and doing my best to inspire others.

Cheers guys,

Marcus
