Default Hi Chaps

Hi everyone I'm Martin from the UK, I'm into 60's and 70's english sportscars, the handmade type, bought a Morgan recently to restore, very disappointed with the build quality of the front wings, overlapped joints with a tin of filler in each wing. The dilemma is to weld and dress the wings properly and loose originality or clag with filler like they made?
I don't intend to keep it when finished, I'm into the restoration not the driving, so I'd like to hear what you guys would do.
Cheers
