Hello all, Rick here. Found this forum through Jalopy Journal referrals.. I don't quite have a jalopy, but I am in the process of restoring a rather unique vehicle, a Corvair Ultravan motorhome. All aluminum construction and built like an airplane with no chassis, just stressed aluminum skins and ribs. There are a few spots on the craft that I can't quite figure how was made and I have to replace - the coach was hit and badly damaged in the front, so I'm picking my way through the wreckage and replacing what was damaged. When my membership is approved, I'll post up photos and start asking questions!

Hi Rick, I own a 'cousin' motorhome, a 77 GMC. Some of the later Ultravans had Olds Tornado power. I'm not sure I knew they were unibody.
Next March 24-30, GMC Motorhomes International (GMCMI) is hosting a “A Celebration of Vintage Pre-1980 Motorhomes” at our spring rally in Shawnee, OK. We're hoping for a good turnout of Revcons, Ultravans, and other 'orphans'. Welcome to AllMetalShaping and I'm looking forward to seeing your photos.

Thanks fellas. Kerry, yep, some of the late UV's were Olds 455, mine happens to be Corvair.
Ultra 436-3.jpg Ultra 436-2.jpg The day it was delivered. You can see the damage on the front. I have much better photos now that the skins are off and have a question on forming one of the stringers. Not quite sure which part of the forum to post it in, so it might be under the 'general' section. I'll get them up tomorrow. Thanks for the welcome!
