Default The 17 year plan.

Hi everyone. I'm a 28 year old career firefighter from upstate NY. My father was a carpenter, and I spent my childhood on job sites learning the trade. But my interests have always been in working with metal, focusing in automotive applications. I taught myself to iug weld in my early teens and haven't stopped learning metal shaping and fabrication techniques. I've found forums like Metalmeet an invaluable resource in learning.
I have been currently been building and selling custom vintage motorcycles on the side for the past several years. I am eligible to retire from the fd in seventeen years, at the age of 45. It has always been my dream to retire and have a small automotive fabrication shop. I'm hoping to add this forum as another resource to help me along.

Hi Nick, welcome to allmetalshaping. Firemen here have been told they must work 'till sixty. I restored a few bikes (motorcycles) years ago mostly BSAs.
