Hey Everyone,
My name is Matt and I have a love of hot rods and classic cars. We are restoring a 1955 Ford Victoria 2dr Hard Top. At this later point in my life I am wanting to learn how to shape metal and create patch panels, detail panels, etc. The 55 is the first project I will be doing as we have a list of cars and trucks we would like to own but cannot afford to buy fully restored cars. Besides, we want the satisfaction of building and restoring cars with our touch and know that it is done correctly. Don't have a bit of knowledge of metal work but have done quite a bit of mechanics over my life even working at several dealerships. Now time to stop dreaming of having this hobby and start doing it. If anyone knows of any metal shaping classes around GA or you could help me out and show me some things to get me started please let me know. Matt |

Hi Matt, welcome to allmetalshaping. There is a lot of info here. Look around and you will have a good start. You don't need lots of machines to get started, in fact almost anything can be made with just hand tools.

Thanks guys. I will be lurking quite a bit to gather some knowledge.
David, I have seen a couple of threads talking about working with just hand tools. I guess my problem is I need to make some 1/4 patches for my 55 and have no idea how or what to use to make them. Like I said, I am a complete noob to this.

Matt some photos of what you are trying to do would help us know what tools would be needed to get your job done.
