Hello everyone, I would call myself a shade tree mechanic with a growing garage more than anything. I am working on my second attempt at a restoration project. My first (an 82' Mustang) ended in flames, I think I messed up the fuel lines.
But one major lesson learned from that project was to tackle the body work first. So here I am on my 65' F100 trying to repair all of the rusted metal on the cab. Some guy before me just laid sheet metal over the rust, brazed it in, and then Bondo'd the crap out of it. I've been cutting out sections of rust for hours now, and just recently built myself a small bench top brake for 14 gauge steel and have been replacing the easy panels. Now on to the uncharted waters for me. I found rust on a smooth curve that looks like its the corner of a cube. Probably the worst first project for shaping but you have to start somewhere. I am here looking for advice on how to make this patch with no shrinker, stretcher, english wheel, or dollies. I will probably get some new tools out of this I imagine, and thats why I love new challenging projects, new tools!

Thanks for the welcome, I'm up near Clarksville, I would try to go to the meet but I will be out of town that weekend visiting family.
I will have to find a way to post a picture of my work later, but after a few hours of hammering early Saturday morning (the wife and neighboors were very happy with me that day...) I had a patch that I was able to call good enough. After that success, I got drawn in to another rusty spot on the truck and ended up cutting out another tough section that I will have to shape, so still more learning! Thanks for the tip on the DVD, I will look into that.
