Hello, my name is Alex T. I am 21 years old, very interested in metal shaping and forming. I was always interested in cars, but metal forming is more like a passion.
I own a 69 camaro that needs alot of attention, so here I am trying to get as much metal knowledge as I can. I have a small garage that I rent, an english wheel, miller mig welder, some body hammers, grinder. Still need to add some tools to list. Anybody on here from NJ? |

![]() I used to get my hands greasy at the nieghbors helping them work on old cars Mode Al's and T's old belaires but they never formed any metal. Now thanks to the Discovery channel, Jessie James and all the other bike builders an age old craft has came out of the cellar and is becoming main stream bridging gaps between age groups and cultures. This new undertaking of metal shaping makes me feel young and probably sound young from some of my stupid questions. Welcome aboard |

lol yes thats all I watch TV for. I was always interested in cars growing up, but around the age of 13 I think it where I really wanted to start welding and building my own things.. but being that I really had no extra money growing up and that my familys trade were landscaping/painting there was really no way I could get my hands dirty with metal.
When I got alittle older, I start to save up for my own tools. Still haven't made much or done much with it. But in time I'll have my chance. Even tried to get hired at a few restoration shops just to learn, even offered to work for free for a few days out of the week.. but nobody was hiring. Thank you guys for the welcomes, this looks like a good place for me to get started and to achieve some more knowledge. |

Alex you really don't need much in the way of tools to get started. Welding equipment is that most expensive thing you will need. You don't even need that to start learning.
