Hi Jim, welcome to the site, If you are starting out and have not bought a welder, Take you r time and dont rush out and buy a MIg it may not be the right thing for you. You may find a tig welder suits you better. Do lots of reading before you decide. I use mostly gas welding, I find it better, its easy to learn and gives great results very quickly.
