In 2005 I read an article that basically said "most people die never having done the things they dreamed of doing as a teenager". That article both shocked and galvanized me into action. Since those teenage years I have always dreamed of building an airplane and a sports car from scratch. Within a month I had done my research and selected the Morry Hummel Ultracruiser to build from plans. Now, 15 years, and 2,200 hours later, I'm closing in on the end. When I get time, I'll post some build photos in the aircraft forum.

Why so long ? Life. Starting at zero with respect to metal working skills. 3,000 (+) hours rebuilding a house. Getting a pilots license and then trying to keep it current.

Once the plane is finished it will be time for the sports car -- probably in retirement. I'm leaning towards a Cobra and / or Daytona Coupe using plans from Chuck Linquist (https://www.chuckcobra.com/index.html). But Joel Heinke has me thinking a lot about doing a Ferrari GTO without plans, so who knows. Still plenty of time to think about it.
