Hi all. Found this site through HAMB and have joined to try to learn some metal skills. I am 47 and so getting into this pretty late in life.
I also see a MN meet in April and I am actually considering heading up from WV. the next few weeks will tell me if it is going to be over my head. Moved from Ireland to the US seven years ago and finally am settled enough with a workshop to be attacking a project. I started on a build of a 1930 Model A in December and am migrating from the ripping everything apart phase into the putting everything back together phase. The car itself is VERY good, requiring minimal bodywork but the more I read up on what I 'could' do to the car the more I realize I should pick up up at least SOME skills in shaping metal. To be clear, I am a COMPLETE newbie, even welding is a mysterious art to me... I own one (MIG) but consider actually getting two pieces of metal to stay together similar to trying to split an atom with a pair of tweezers. I look forward to learning...
