Hi chaps, my name is Gareth and I'm a 47 year old engineer from Staffordshire, England. I run my own fabrication business (started 2004) manufacturing stainless steel equipment for the food industry as one side of the business and general mild steel fabrication as the other side of it. Ever since I set up, I've had little side projects on the go and have always wanted to get more involved in hand crafted metal products as opposed to all the laser cut and folded work we get done. It's difficult to find the time to work on side projects when the majority of your time is spent trying to find work for your employees but, now we seem to be out of the worst of the recession, work seems to be coming to us again and I find myself being drawn to working on projects more.

Last year, I discovered American Hotrod for the first time on TV and watched a whole load of episodes. Whilst it is more entertainment than instruction on how to do things, it inspired me to push on with what I really wanted to do in life, and that is to be creative with cars.

Currently, I'm building a chassis jig that I've got ideas for from several forums and I've just started to build my own English wheel. I've wanted a wheel for many years but it is hard to justify spending a chunk of money on something that will see only limited use. Hopefully, once it's built, all that will change. Progress won't be quick so please don't expect photos within the next week or so but I'll post them up as soon as I can.

I had seen this website some time ago but never joined. Being as though I want to learn new things and see how other people approach certain problems I thought it was about time to join in.

That's about it for now, I look forward to being part of the community.

Regards,

Gareth
