Default Kevin from England

Hi

I felt I had to join this forum after stumbling across the Redoxide Alvis thread. Absolutely stunning car! I'm just amazed at what some of the people on here can do, and I hope one day I'll be able to do some of this stuff.

I've recently started getting into welding(mig), and I've got a pile of scrap metal to practice on, plus an old Austin Mini which will certainly need some new metal. Should keep me going for a while!

Since showing an interest in working with metal I've also been asked by the mother in law if I can make her some metal art. I'm not exactly arty, but I'll have a go

I'm so glad I found this site. I think it'll be a big help!

Hi Kev from another uk'er and one based in leicestershire . Spend plenty of time reading through the forum and when you get going on the mini post pic's ask questions and people here will offer advice freely and if your lucky you might even get a few pic's showing you how to make what you want.

In that case, everything I've done so far is art

Thanks for the advice Chris. I'm not sure how much metal shaping I'll be doing on the mini. I think at this stage I'll be pleased if I can weld some patches on without making even bigger holes in the car! I'd love to do a proper job, but currently I just need to get the car solid, legal and sold unfortunately.

Hi David, when I first read the redoxide thread, I saw your details and had a look at your website. Some amazing work there. Your DVD looks really good, so you'll be getting my order in the near future. I can't wait to get going.

Thanks Peter. I definitely have the passion....less so the time at the moment, but I'll be practising as much as I can.
