Was that Jeff's Crown Imperial? Bill in your photo album you mentioned something about the neat machine on the back of Dutchs big Crown. That is one of the group design thumbnail machines that I built for them.

Jeff brought his Crown Imperial, but hasnt been used much, but if he didnt bring it, we'd be starving for wheels, LOL
That is a DANG nice machine, I had the opportunity to throw some metal through it and felt really good :-) Marty

It looks like you guys are having a blast, thanks for posting all the pictures for us. I've been stuck working on a bathroom renovation these past few days, so I'm quite envious of you guys!

I might just try switching coffees with him sometime to see what happens, and I'll report any findings to you guys afterwards.

yeah, let's see...You and Dutch have the big Gold Crown, a 26F, and a 16S plus Bob Schute's 26F clone, and Jeff brought his Crown and Pugsy brought his 26F clone. That's probably the most in any one place this year.

You can never have enough e wheels. Everyone loved the Crown Kerry.
Pugsy sure is something, HAHA. I thought those tail light fillers would never get done!! Got a little more to do on one of them and they'll be done. It's really hard to get things done with so much other stuff going on. You really have to isolate yourself. Having a blast though.

Yeah, I rarely get much stuff done at events and I've been to 30+ over the years. Just too much going on that is too interesting to pass up. You can work at home but how often do you get to hear Stan Lobitz tell stories?

Nothing special in the coffee boys.
Hanging out with a great group of guys gets me pumped every time. Nothing like being at a shapefest. I'm glad I brought my wheel even though it wasn't needed. I'll be adding some more structure to it as it feels real weak compared to the wheels I've tried at the meet. I realized another important thing on this trip. I don't have nearly enough hammers........ That's only four of the five boxes of Dutch's collection. |

Here are some additional pics that I took at Dutches.
Ethan and I both had a great time thanks to Marty and Dutch's penchant for training, patients and understanding. Any rumors you may hear about my reluctance and hard hardheadedness are greatly exaggerated. P.S. Don't show up at any metal meet with any wood wood attached to any thing. LOL! Pugsy was a blast. That Canadian's yellow banana runs like hell. It can hurt your neck if you're not for-warned, and he is a talented fellow as well. He helped me a great deal. Special thanks to Marty and Dutch for their patience. I am a better metal shaper for their patience. Their place is a tool collectors dream, and I have busy as heck today lining up sources for hammers, grinders, dollies and assorted little trick items like gluing a flat headed screw to one side of round magnets. I'm not sure how fast that lawn mower they are building will cut grass, but it sure looks cool. Apparently, Kerry Pinkerton has cornered the market on English wheels. There were a lot of them there, and all that I tried worked smooth and strong. Ethan took it upon himself to learn to gas weld aluminum, and while I am no expert at all, he sure was able to gas weld and bang it with a planishing hammer and had no cracks until he just abused the weld with giant hammers, etc. I was quite proud of him. Hospitality is no longer to be considered a southern only thing any more. We were treated as royalty and fed accordingly. Dutch's wife and an excellent cook treated us to very delicious meals, including barbecued chicken, barbecued pork, hot dogs and hamburgers as well as ice cream and fresh strawberries. It was cool to match faces to names (I still love SumTingWong the best, LOL). Thanks Dutch and Marty and all your helpers! herk-1 009.jpg herk-1 010.jpg herk-1 011.jpg herk-2 008.jpg herk-2 009.jpg herk-3 007.jpg herk-4 001.jpg herk-4 004.jpg herk-4 005.jpg herk-4 009.jpg
