I agree Ray, this is a great project!

To me, one thing that Steve is seeing is related to the wheel openings. I know they are not finished but imo, they need to be larger, especially the rear. Also it appears in above photo that the HIGH spot on the fender is directly above the side vent instead of above the tire.

I might suggest drawing a couple wheel openings with thin masking tape and then coloring in the area with a wide tip black sharpie. In a photo taken outside at a distance (so you can see the whole thing) the sharpie painted parts 'go away' and you can see what the opening would actually look like.

Photoshop is your friend. I've very, very bad with it but it has been helpful for me to 'see' what something would look like without making changes to the metal and it's something I can do in the house.

I took the liberty of making a quick edit to show what I mean.

Taking down the upward swoop of the front of the door and flowing into a curve that makes the high point above makes a pretty significant change. Like Steve said, there is no right/wrong here, only what YOU want.

I benefited (and continue to) greatly from other eyes making suggestions on the roadster. I get too close to the forest to see the trees sometimes and also get too invested in what I thought was right to see reality.

Thanks for the input. I have moved the rear of the front fender down along with the front door top. It is starting to look better. The bold sharpie idea is a good one for the rear wheel opening because it will be more open. I just need a dry day to get it outside. Ray

Still working away........
As I work around the car going from mock up panels to keepers the panels are looking better and I'm starting to "get it".
A panel that I needed to use three pieces is now done in one. Still a struggle but there is hope. Ray

Hi Ray

Keep up the good work!

Large projects like this, are like eating an elephant, one bite at a time.

I always look at them as a group of many small projects, and can feel satisfied with the completion of each part.

Thanks for sharing !

Steve

Hey, Been working on a car to flip so have not done much on the project.
Got back on it and welded the grill to the hood front. Trimming the Left Lower front fender for clearance to tilt and steer. Marking where I want the turn signal. My brain hurts, RayName: 001 (12).jpg

I'm on a roll............Turn signal and keeper headlight bucket.
It's silly sometimes how many clamps are on a piece just for a few tack welds

Trying to set a goal of one more year to get the body shaped and welded together. Then the easy stuff like blowing it apart and final assembly.
Got the other side hung on and drove it out to see if it matches. Looks OK. my weld seams are in a different spot by the turn signals so it looks a little off. Ray
