One step forward and two steps back.

I'm trying to get the front panel metal finished so I can tip the bottom edge but I got a spot that can't be shrunk ehough and the weld cracked up so I had to do a little surgery.




New piece tacked in place......

Got the screw up fixed up.

That was a little nerve wracking to cut into the front panel like that.

Learned alot about using the slapprer off dolly though so that was good.

Your metal finishing on your welds are fantastic.

Whats your secret?

To tell the truth, its the angle of the camera.

There are little gouges all along the weld seam that will be filled with high build primer and a little filler.

Nice job on the patch Pugsy. I know of the antsy feeling that comes along with unpleasant little tasks like that, and it looks like you coped with it very nicely.
Im still amazed with the stuff you're showing us around here. You've been metalshaping for something like.....16-18 months now, is that about right?

I've been shaping about that long.
The first piece I made was at your place last September.
Its easy with all the help and tips from the pros.

I've got Mark coming over to help tip the bottom edge.
I'm going to do it 1" in. I may spot weld a plate inside that edge to strengthen it up as there will be no bumper.


A coupla more pics...... still needs work in a few spots but I think I'l have a better go of it when I have the 2 grill cutouts done.
That and a bit more dolly and slapper experience as I go along.

We got the bottom edge tipped.
Just needs a little fine tuning on the shrinker/stretchers and I will be able to cleco it into position.

I fiddled around trying to get this front panel in arrangement but it was driving me crazy so I just decided to go for it.













If the shape is not exactly the same as the buck......oh well.

I think its starting to finally look good..........ahhhhhhh.
