I kind of like the longer version of the bar. The shorter one looks odd. I like how the bar calls back to the grill shown in your first post.

Great machine the bar just detracts from the clean look.

I like the grill without the cross bar.

Looking at the rest of the frontal area for guidance, I like the vertical beads on either side of between the grill and each headlight. Otherwise, the areas where the beads are would look barren or vague while being large enough to dominate the composition, The space directly above the grill may benefit from a similar detail of some manner, not a full bead but maybe a line. Just thinking out loud because that blank area seems somewhat dominant and I would explore something like a line (definitive line or shape/edge to create a shadow line) in that area to subdue it. This would complement the side beads to help finish framing the grill. I would probably start with a pencil or sharpie on the metal.

I think part of the problem is that you can't see the black mesh I have in there in the photos with the camera I am using, as in the flesh is looks much better. The other thing that has been pointed out to me is that it will look completely different once painted. The darker the colour the less the slots will stand out.
So staying with no bars.
Thank you to everyone for the feedback.

You are right. It has enough going on already without adding to it.

Default front grill

The front grill does appear more pronounced, even straight on. Is it because the "V" is deeper? Earlier you mentioned not liking a "truck" grill coming at you. I feel that's what you have, only my opinion.

G'day Marcus,

Glad you are taking that Horizontal Bar out of the equation.

Well look what we scored. We tried to get these licence plates 12 years ago, but they were already long gone. They have never been assigned to a vehicle so in new condition. Looking forward to the day I can register the Willys with these plates. Hopefully I can sell the ones we already had, WLLYS to someone.
