I know this thread is old, but as a sticky, prob read quite a bit.
My take on using a gloved hand or paper towel is that, itís good to try it both ways to get a feel for the panel. Sometimes the texture of the panel lies to your senses, this is where a towel or glove can help. Kind of like a new set of eyes for your hands. The temperature of the panel can trick you, if youíre using any heat creating meathods for straightening. Dust, and primer / no primer spots, can trick you, as well. Use what works, and donít be afraid to try something new. Your final results will tell you.
