Now that the body is all locked up, I figured I should tend to the doors. Stripping is always fun. Finding a dent in the middle of one, not so much. I've been working it off and on, getting frustrated and leaving it.
Bottom edges are rusted and up the front and backs about a foot are thickened so a guy just knows there is rust under the hemmed edge. Holes on the inner bottom also of course. |

Slice and dice time. I took too much off of course. Thought I would join the new piece at the smaller points but then realized it would be too difficult to form. I'm not going to waste time on something that's not seen.
I found some brake formed angles that when put together hit the dimension needed exactly. That doesn't happen often around my place. Of course welding them together shrunk them a lot. A bit of torch shrinking took care of that. I then put these aside as I needed to do the outside skin edges first. |

I will post things in the order I did them, not that it makes any sense, but that's what I did and the photos are in this order.
Next pics I found in my file show the door was off a car that was in a fender bender. Since I needed the stud welder from work, next thing to do while waiting for that was to consider a flat door glass. However, the work involved to do so would have been massive as the slot for the window takes a turn where the vent window begins. Did I mention I hate vent windows? |

Next day I went to grab the stud welder and also bent up a mock window while I was at the shop.
No access to the back as there is a huge reinforcing plate vertically so it's about as good as it will get. I may cut some inner panel out to dolly it yet and tack a cover over it afterwards. |

Power windows require a massive cut out in the door panel.
Then reinforcement angles added. |

Door lock hole delete.
Next issue was the replacement handles from a 48 Ford pickup have a taller mounting flange. Slice and hack on this one. I could have spent more time making an exactly shaped piece for a butt weld, but I'm simply exhausted on this project and need to get thru it. Also, the ol' body is giving up on me at a really quick rate. |

Time to deal with the handle hole and mounting method.
